Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has presented both opportunities and challenges in the world of education, especially in Indonesia, which still faces disparities in the quality of education between regions. This study aims to analyze the impact of artificial intelligence on improving the quality of education in Indonesia by highlighting its utilization, benefits, and challenges. The method used is a literature review of various relevant journals, proceedings, and scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025, with a focus on the context of AI implementation in the national education sector. The results show that AI has great potential to improve the quality of learning through adaptive systems, personalized materials, automated assessments, and increased access to learning, especially in remote areas. However, the use of AI also poses serious challenges such as digital infrastructure inequality, low technological literacy among educators, and concerns about data ethics and privacy. In conclusion, AI has a significant impact on the quality of education in Indonesia, but its use must be balanced with policy strategies that ensure equitable access, increased educator capacity, and protection of student data. Recommendations from this study include the development of digital training for teachers, equitable investment in educational technology, and the need for further empirical, field-based research to assess the effectiveness of AI implementation in various learning contexts in Indonesia.
