ANALYSIS OF THE CONTROVERSY OF GIBRAN'S VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE RAKABUMING RAKA IN THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

Abstract

The advancement of Gibran "the son of the president" to the presidential election contestation has raised many polemics and issues such as law, morality, and ethics at the same time. This polemic began with the decision of the Constitutional Court which changed the age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates. This polemic not only questions the legal and ethical positions, but also the assumptions of political dynasties and nepotism. The next question that arises is to what extent law and ethics play a role. The law must act fairly and ethics must speak to the conscience. Through this article which uses a qualitative descriptive analysis method, the author will explain how law and ethics play a role in the 2024 general election. From this case, principles are needed that must be upheld in order to form true truth and justice.
